Biggest ever tourist season for Croatia
29 September 2008
Last year saw one of the best tourist seasons for Croatia, with 9.3 million people choosing to visit the country.
A 7.5 per cent year-on-year rise was reported for the country, with the first two months of 2008 standing 21 per cent higher than 2007, research from Companies and Markets reports.
Gross domestic product in the country is set to be the highest so far this decade, predicted to top 5.9 per cent.
Tourism within the country also grew, with a five per cent year-on-year increase occurring in domestic travel.
It is thought some of this growth will drop in 2008 due to the economic climate but this will rise again in 2011 when the country joins the European Union.
The Telegraph is advising those who want a cheaper summer holiday next year should travel to Croatia as it will be less expensive than those in the eurozone.
It states these countries will offer better value for money.
