Croatia holiday 'cheaper than traditional favourites'
01 April 2008
Choosing a city break in an eastern European country like Croatia offers travellers a cheaper option than traditional favourites, it has been claimed.
According to experts in the organisation of trips to less-travelled areas of the continent, the realisation of this fact is drawing more and more savvy people eastwards.
"[Eastern Europe is] still a lot cheaper than most traditional destinations, such as Paris and Barcelona, Venice [or] Rome," confirmed Tim Campbell, the manager of Fregata Travel.
"This applies to the hotels, the eating out and the entrance fees - the whole lot is going to cost you a bit less than it would for more traditional western European destinations," he remarked.
Mr Campbell also alluded to a growing trend for people to seek out novelty in "something different", a quirk for which a Croatia holiday more than caters.
In March this year, Post Office officials speculated that eastern Europe's burgeoning city break hotspots could benefit from the effects of the credit crunch, as travellers seek cheaper alternatives when it comes to jetting off.
