Greek tourists 'increasingly travel to Croatia'
02 September 2008
Croatia is one of a number of destinations increasing in popularity among Greek tourists, it has been revealed.
According to Ta Nea, the country's citizens are looking to holiday in the neighbouring Balkans nations of Croatia and Serbia, as well as Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey, Balkan Travellers reports.
The newspaper explains this area is a "more economic option of spending the holidays" than in Greece, where package prices continue to rise.
It is these lower prices, along with close travelling distance - particularly for residents in cities like Thessaloniki in the north of Greece - which the publication states are the principal reasons for heading to the Balkans and surrounding countries.
Travmedia.com recently revealed Zagreb is one of its top ten upcoming destinations, based on the number of bookings received on Hostelworld.com.
It revealed figures from the website show a 90 per cent growth in reservations in the city since 2007.
