Istria, Dalmatia and Kvarner recommended for beach holidays
22 September 2008
Croatia has three main areas worth considering for those planning a beach holiday in the country, it has been claimed.
Writing in the News Star, Diane Newcomer said Istria, Dalmatia and Kvarner Gulf are the "best" beach regions.
Istria, she claimed, has "gorgeous beaches, bays and charming little villages", and enjoys a mix of the cuisines and cultures prevalent in the countries which surround it - Austria, Italy and Slovenia.
Dalmatia is regarded by the writer as "more beautiful", with the blueness of the Adriatic and the close proximity of the mountains and cities such as Dubrovnik and Split to the area's beaches recommended in the newspaper.
The Kvarner Gulf to the north of Istria, meanwhile, is described as "one of the most popular coastal regions in Croatia", with numerous sandy beaches and a fantastic all-year-round climate, according to Ms Newcomer.
In related news, Alan Ruck recently recommended a holiday on the Dalmatian coastline in the Daily Telegraph.
He suggested taking a cycling holiday could be one way of exploring the area.
