Istria and Kvarner recommended for tourists

"Classy" hotels, grand Croatian villas and good food are among the recommendations of a visit to the Istria and Kvarner regions of northern Croatia.
Travelling to the peninsula in the spring brings with it the benefits of steaming bowls of speciality wild asparagus, fresh greenery and the sun, Earth Times reports.
Plenty of exploring can also be done, with churches from the Middle Ages among the attractions on view to tourists.
Opatika is particularly popular among travellers, with guests day tripping to its old Viennese high society cafes for coffee and cake.
The website claims "crumbling facades and faded paint" mark out that the town is past its "heyday".
However, it is claimed this merely adds to the charm and visitors are also urged to explore old allies in the upper areas of the resort.
Istria has recently been compared to Tuscany in Italy and similarity is attracting overseas visitors to Croatia, according to Rhiannon Davies of property website Amberlamb.
