30 June 2008
The island of Korcula is an ideal place to learn how to sail, it has been claimed.
Natalie Holmes, writing in the Independent, says Lumbarda is particularly welcoming to the novice sailor as it is easy to sail to nearby islands, giving learners "the impression they can get somewhere on their own".
Following a day of theory, participants are invited to take to the seas in a dinghy.
After this, the option of taking part in a day sail is then available, says Ms Holmes, where a lead boat is followed to another island.
Once this training has been completed, a final day regatta takes place where the beginner sailor can show off their new skills.
According to a recent Guardian article, sailing in Croatia is the ideal cheap holiday break for the family.
