Madonna in Montenegro in advance of show
24 September 2008
Montenegro is preparing for Madonna's concert on Jaz Beach, with the "Queen of Pop" said to have arrived in Podgorica today (September 24th).
She is expected to spend three days in the country, staying at the Splendid Hotel for the duration, according to visit-montenegro.com.
Compared to the Rolling Stones, the singer's backstage requests are said to have been "modest".
Despite it being suggested some of the singer's requests could be seen as "an exaggeration", such as requiring 900 cubicles of ice placed in bags which can be carried by one person before the show, the news provider states organisers are keen to be "good hosts" and will endeavour to fulfil these asks and attempt to protect the health and safety of Madonna and her crew as a result.
Yesterday (September 23rd), the Liverpool Echo suggested the performances of Madonna and the Rolling Stones in Montenegro could help raise the profile of the country.
Writing in the newspaper, Tina Miles added people may also have been attracted to visit the Balkan state by its appearance in Daniel Craig's first outing as James Bond, Casino Royale.
