Montenegro aims for high-end tourism

Montenegro is aiming to be a destination for high-class tourists and is hoping to achieve this by 2012, it has been reported.
According to VisitMontenegro.com, the goal for the country is to turn it into a "prestigious destination" which will attract high-end travellers.
The government has set a goal of achieving this in four years time and says many outside investor are looking at creating hotels in the country which will appeal to this new market.
Any transformation of this kind will take a long time, in particular shedding the image of being a mass-tourist market, it is claimed.
The news provider states more four and five-star hotels are needed in the region to attract the big spenders.
Vjaceslav Lajbman, the director of Mirax Balkan, recently told the website the country has the ability to succeed and has huge potential to boom in both tourism and real estate.
Recently fans of songstress Madonna flocked to the country for her performance on Jaz Beach near Budva, with the celebrity beginning the concert by appearing from a helicopter, according to Radio Srbija.
