Montenegro mountains will 'attract tourism'

The mountains and forests of Montenegro will attract hikers, according to a source.

Website Earthtimes.org claims the country, which enjoys transport links making travel to Croatia easily accessible, has "impressive peaks" and provides numerous points of interest for those interested in hiking.

Zabljak is named as a particular area for climbers to visit, with the Durmitor Mountain located within the town, the source states.

The mountain range rises as high as 2,500 metres above sea-level and aids "wonderful views", the website adds.

Lake Biogradsko and the Biogradsko National Park are also noted by the article as locations to visit.

Meanwhile, latest figures released by the country's tourist board shows increased revenue generated from travellers.

Predrag Nenezic, minister of tourism and environment protection, claims the nation has seen a seven per cent year-on-year rise in tourist revenue, with the figure standing at 227 million euros (£180 million) for the first seven months of 2007, reports Visit-montenegro.com.
