More people choose Croatia 'for a better life'

The prospect of a better lifestyle is one factor behind the growing popularity of rented villas and apartments in countries such as Croatia, it has emerged.

According to the head of Natwest International Personal Banking, increased and varied work opportunities are another reason contributing to the trend.

Dave Isley offered his insight after the publication of his organisation's Quality of Life Report, which indicated that the globalisation of companies has given people more opportunity to nip across the Adriatic and sample the Croatian way of life.

Undertaken alongside think tank Centre for Future Studies, Natwest's study surveyed British expatriates from across the world, who revealed that the desire for a better way of life was a strong reason for leaving.

Cost of living was deemed important by a fifth of respondents, with Croatia's property market in particular offering a plethora of advantageous opportunities in this respect.

"The world is far more movable than it ever was before - because of transport and everything else, there's a lot of opportunity now for people to go abroad and just expand their horizons," said Mr Isley.

He concluded that a lot of people head to sunnier climes simply because they have had enough of Blighty's dull weather.ADNFCR-1197-ID-18471933-ADNFCR
