Nautical event opens in Rijeka

The longest-running annual maritime festival in Croatia opened today (September 25th), it has been revealed.
Javno.com reports the International Nautical Fair is underway in Rijeka for its 24th consecutive year, having begun in 1985.
It is said to be held to improve aquatic and sports tourism around the Adriatic, with particular attention paid to marine production.
The news provider states the festival is "magical" because of it being held in the northern Dalmatian town, which has a harbour and two city docks.
A Golden Sail award and the Grand Prix will be offer to the best exhibitors of nautical fare at the festival.
Meanwhile, Caroline Sylger-Jones, the author of the Body and Soul Escapes travel book, wrote in the National that a swimming holiday among the Dalmatian islands left her heart singing by the end of her week in the country.
She described morning swims in the Adriatic as a "revelation" and praised the sea for its calmness and sapphire blue colour.
