On Sunday the team claimed a 31-29 win over Spain and they will now face current group leaders France on Thursday.
The six-team group A also includes Poland and China.
Meanwhile, Croatia's water polo team today claimed a victory over Serbia.
The group B fixture ended in an 11-8 win and also saw two Croatian players and their assistant manager sent off.
Afterwards coach Ratko Rudic told Eurosport his victorious team had agreed they needed to play with "more aggression".
Elsewhere in the competition Montenegro came out on top in a 12-0 win over Canada.
