Sailing in Croatia is a holiday option which is not considered by many, but can be a great cheap option, according to a source.
The Guardian reports that if the location is selected carefully then sailing can be an ideal cheap break for the family.
Croatia is cited as one of the cheaper destinations for the trip, with many companies offering special offers and last-minute deals.
Those wanting to save even more money by not hiring a skipper to do the hard work will need to pass the relevant qualifications before setting sail, reports the newspaper.
Getting a competent crew qualification is a good middle-ground, as it allows you to be part of the boat's crew without fully skippering it.
Around £1.9 billion was spent by British holidaymakers last year on river and sea cruises across the world.
The tourism ministry in Croatia has reported that tourism levels may rise this year, in comparison to 2007's figures.
