Towns such as Bled, on the edge of the Triglav National Park, offer a great base to enjoy the ski areas in Kobla, Straza and Vogel.
The country around Bled looks stunning in winter, with a beautiful lake backed by snowy mountains.
Another nearby ski area, Krvavec, is well-known as a great place for beginner skiers but this whole region has so much skiing to choose from.
Kranj is near Slovenia's capital Ljubljana, and from here skiers are whisked onto the slopes via a gondola cable car in less than seven minutes.
Vogel gets reliable snowfall because it is set on the first mountain barrier pasat the Adriatic Sea. This is another resort that is suitable for all levels, including beginners.
