Snow fans to gather in Croatia
19 November 2008
Snow fans are set to flock to Zagreb next year when the Alpine Skiing World Cup arrives in the country.
The Federation Internationale de Ski slalom event will take place at the Sljeme Ski Resort from January 4th to 6th.
Zagreb will first see the women's section of the competition, where skiers from across the globe will gather to battle it out.
The men will take to the slopes on January 6th, competing to be the Alpine World Cup Overall Champion.
Both the men and women will take part in downhill, slalom, giant slalom, super G and combines races.
It was recently confirmed that Sljeme in Croatia will hold the Audi FIS Ski World Cup for the next five years.
Vedran Pavlek, the Sljeme races chairman, said the event held in February this year showed the country is capable of hosting such an occasion.
"As a reward for successful organization, Sljeme races are ranking high in popularity, after only four years of existing," he added.
