Stars line up to tout Croatian cruise choice
18 February 2008
Croatia's cruise to become a tourism hotspot has reached another peak.
The eastern European mecca has attracted the services of Italian opera singer Andrea Bocelli, pop singer KT Tunstall and TV presenter Fearne Cotton, who will join together to launch a new cruise to the Adriatic paradise.
According to TravelMole, MSC Cruises' new ship will be named MSC Poesia by Hollywood veteran Sophia Loren at a ceremony in April.
Following the launch, the 2,550-passenger vessel will sail from Dover to Venice, visiting Ireland, Portugal and Spain in addition to Croatia.
The latest Croatian cruise offering marks the continuing rise in popularity of the country's stunning coastline and islands.
In its recent guide to the hottest destinations this year, Cruise Critic singled out the Adriatic rival to the French Riviera as a tourism "must".
Travel analysts note that some of the boat trips on offer around Croatia including Dalmatia and its islands have moved away from the traditional notion of "showy extravagance" to focus on travellers' health and wellbeing.
A large proportion of cruise lines now offer everything from boxing rings to private yoga lessons on board.
